Woman in Black!

____________________________________________________________________
I've read the book, I've read the reviews, and OMIGOSH I get to see it on the 18th!!! I'm totally stoked for the day when I get to walk into that theater and watch Hammer's latest ghost story/thriller!
Daniel Radcliffe stars as Arthur Kipps, a young attorney who has to settle the affairs of the deceased elderly Mrs. Alice Drablow, which means that he has to spend a couple of nights in her old, rickety house called Eel Marsh house..
Yay.
What made this book (and hopefully the movie) so terrifying is the atmosphere of the house. To get to the house, one must cross a long causeway which is surrounded by the marshes. Oh, and you can only cross it at certain points of a day, when the waters aren't covering the road. And then, the house is situated on a hill, overlooking the moors. You certainly feel a sense of isolation when you're alone there. And that's what Kipps has to go through.
What he encounters there changes his life.
The movie was said to be a bit slow at times, then relied on jump scares at the beginning, but then with many reviews, I've read that when it starts going, it gets going. The atmosphere is just as creepy as the book is, so they say, and the ending is said to completely surprise. I can't wait!

Merry Christmas!

And Huzzah! I've got Photoshop!

I hope that everyone has a good Christmas and remember that Jesus is the reason the season! ;)

And now that I have a new photoshop program, I can safely say that I will probably post some more fanart. :D So, to start the new fanarts, I give you a wall for a wonderful couple: Kyo and Tohru from Fruits Basket!

Aren't they precious. If you don't know what Fruits Basket is, google it! It's SUCH a good manga. :D
Merry Christmas, everyone!

Good Heavens! It's been a while...

Hello, friends!

I swear, it's been a very long time since I've posted on here... So much has happened in the past year. I guess it's just trying to finish my junior year that's been taking up my time.

But I re discovered this little blog, and I thought I'd update it. :D

Well! I'm sad to say that graphics are still not going to be posted on here. Sadly, I have no photo editing programs on my computer. But I will be talking more and posting my thoughts on here. :)

There's been so much going on since I last posted! I've started a Disney collection. I don't have many, but with the help of Disney Movie Club I have expanded said collection. I have Tangled now too! :D Gosh, I love that movie!
I have also expanded my gaming collection. I am now a HUGE fan of the Kingdom Hearts series and have almost played all the games! :D Good gosh, that's a fanbase that is hard to be a part of! But I'll post more on that later...
I'm also trying to get through Final Fantasy VII. It's SO FUN! Check it out!!

And, well, that's it. Funny I update this the day before my birthday... haha.

What's New!

Hey everyone! Yes, I return!

Currently, I am reading Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens, and am loving every page of it! Yes, it's rather long, and the beginning has nothing really to do with Little Dorrit, but as always with Dickens, the characters are unique and brilliant, and the plot is intricate. I only have 10 more chapters to go. *whew!*

And to keep the Dickens vibe going, I got the film adaptation of Little Dorrit for Christmas! It's amazing. It will tear your heart to pieces and you will fall in love with the two main characters! Believe me!
Check it out as Masterpiece Theater, here.

Gosh, I love Dickens. I'm thinking about doing a film marathon of his works. Sadly, I don't have all of them, but I'll make do. And I just discovered another thing. BBC made a docudrama of Charles Dickens!! :O

Why I never found this out, I'll never know! But it's on DVD now, and you can check the site out here. Gah! I want it for my birthday!!! *sniffles*

................

So guys, that's what is new. Apart from school, but that's not interesting. It's all tests and quizzes and observations and blah blah blah.. But did you guys see that there's a new adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma out now? AWESOME.
Yes! And I've seen it too! It's lovely! Check it out when it comes on TV! Emma

Well, that's about it. Have a wonderful Valentine's Day! If you have no special-someone, Watch Emma!! :D

Hey People...

Hey guys. So I know I haven't been on here in a long while, but the thing is, I don't have any photo programs right now, so I can't make any walls. *shrugs* But I have been doing vids! If you want to check it out, here's my wall on a vid site: http://bamvidvault.ning.com/profile/PeriodDramaluvr

Since YouTube deletes some of my vids because of WMG and laws and stuff, I uploaded my vids at this new site. :)

Most of the vids are about different things like Sense and Sensibility and Persuasion and such. There's also the film Pay It Forward (which is a SAD movie by the way, and GOOD!) So, yeah, check them out if you want. :) love you all! <3

Yay for College Life! O_o

Hey people!

So... college has started back up again. It's going to be a great year. Wow, and I'm a sophomore.. O_o

but anyways, I've got some really interesting classes this semester. My favorite one is probably going to be the American Lit class I'm taking. I couldn't WAIT to get a Lit class!! :D

(though I would have preferred Brit Lit..)

But anywho! Some very exciting things have been going on! I had a marvelous Labor Day weekend, even if I didn't go anywhere. It was marvelous because I got me some new movies! :D I got the A&E version of Emma, Master and Commander, and just recently I got Girl With a Pearl Earring. !!!!!

My Period Drama collection is getting BIGGER!! *jumps, claps, squeals!*

Well, that's all. I gotta go now. :)

Wuthering Heights -- A Concept

One of my favorite classics (and I have many) is the novel Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. It's always fun to see how different people adapt this story to the silver screen.

I saw some of the film with Laurence Olivier

And the one with Timothy Dalton

But they were both lacking one very important thing: The Last half of the story!!! (which is my favorite part) Sure, they're both good, but I just hate it when the films leave out parts of the story!

Then there is, of course, the one with Ralph Fiennes

This one, I felt, was better. It included every part of the book (more or less) and Fiennes portrayed Heathcliff as he is supposed to be: brutal, cruel, sadistic, tortured, yet appealing. The actress who played Cathy wasn't as good as it could have been, but that was okay, because it had the last half of the book with Catherine and Hareton! Not to mention the good music this film had.

But then a newer version came out just this past year:

And I did not like it at all. Oh sure, the acting was very good, but it just wasn't Emily Bronte's story! It was like someone took it and made their own story out of the real thing! The whole thing about Heathcliff and Cathy's love is that it's beyond fleshly love, it's deeper. It's in the soul. It's as constant as nature, and they just brought it low. I just was so disappointed. It could have been better. And they rushed my favorite parts: the relationship of Catherine and Hareton. Major disappointment.

My favorite version by far is the Masterpiece Theater version made in 1998.
Such passionate acting! And who could hate Matthew McFayden's Hareton? Granted, I missed the music this film could have had, but everything else was great! The actor who portrayed Heathcliff brought out the sadistic tortured soul the character has after Cathy dies. And to my surprise and delight Crispin Bonham-Carter (BBC's Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Bingley!!!) was Edgar Linton! He was great!
This is by far my favorite one, with the Ralph Fiennes' one not far behind. The others were just not worthy to adapt to the book.
Now watch this vid I put up! I adapted my own ideas for each character in a new film for Wuthering Heights!
My Cast:
Christian Bale: Heathcliff
Natalie Portman: Cathy
Toby Stephens: Hareton
Kate Winslet: Nelly Dean
Ewan McGregor: Edgar Linton
Rosamund Pike: Isabella Linton
Sophia Myles: Catherine Linton
Karl Urban: Hareton Earnshaw
